Our insurance

We don't believe in taking any risks at sea.  The Master of Azzura, Captain Marcel Girardin, is a highly skilled and qualified professional sailor with more than thirty years' experience in racing multi hulls, making trans Atlantic and Pacific voyages and commanding cargo ships, tugs and dredgers.  His ticket entitles him to command vessels of up to 200 tons.  Our second Captain, Chris Howell, holds his Masters ticket to 25 tons, and is thus fully qualified to also take full command of SY Azzura.

Safety on board is also a priority, with safety briefings made at the start of each voyage.  We carry 60 adult life jackets and 10 children’s life jackets on board at all times.  Two 25 person life rafts and a 12 person RIB style boat complete our on-board safety precautions. 

We are also the only sea tourism operator in the country to have on board VHF Radio that is capable of being in constant contact with the control tower at Port Sultan Qaboos and the Royal Oman Police Coast Guard.

Please note that all our life jackets are for serious emergency use only.  We do NOT provide flotation devices for weak swimmers or children.  All swimmers enter the water at their own risk. 

Third party liability insurance

Our focus on quality and the expertise of our crew means that we qualify for full third party insurance coverage, greater than that of any other sea tourism operator in Oman.

Our third party liability insurance for any one event on board SY Azzura is USD1,000,000.  On board our Oman Fishing Charters it is USD260,000.  Please do not hesitate to contact us directly for copies of our insurance policies.

Please note however that any use of the Jet Ski is at the user’s risk.  We ask all Jet Ski riders to sign a waiver form, and the compensation for damages is as per Sharia’ law.
